IFITT Doctoral Summer School, took place at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, Austria, 15-16 May 2017
Organized in cooperation with ISCONTOUR (International Student Conference in Tourism Research) and IFITT (International Federation for IT in Travel & Tourism), and hosted by the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences the IFITT Doctoral Summer School offers a unique forum for early-career researchers to actively exchange, share and challenge state-of- the-art research and industrial case studies on the application of information and communication technologies to travel and tourism.
The Doctoral Summer School focused on research methods, academic publishing, and how to write a dissertation. Participants had the opportunity to briefly present their work or their ideas and discuss them with peers and invited academics and practitioners. The Summer School mainly aims at doctoral students but master students and post-docs are very welcome to submit their extended abstract as well.
Topics covered at the Doctoral Summer School were applicable in a tourism context and included in areas such as:
• Management; Marketing; Financing; Human Resource Management
• Tourism Product Development & Sustainability
• Information and Communication Technologies
• e-Tourism; Big data; Mobile Services; e-Strategy and e-Business models
The extended abstract submitted was 1000-1500 words and structured as follows:
1. Problem Statement and Theoretical Background
2. Methodology
3. (Expected) Results
4. Conclusion
